Glorious Living Devotional : Jan 11

Topic You can be sincere but Wrong

Text: Genesis 20,21

Key Text: Genesis 20:6  And God said unto him in a dream, Yea, I know that thou didst this in the integrity of thy heart; for I also withheld thee from sinning against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touch her.

Discussion: As we read this passage of Scripture, will discover Two scenario that are both wrong, but one was out of sincerity, the other was a self defense, however, God did not approve any of the two situations.

In the key text, despite the fact that, God attested to his integrity of intent, God prevented him from proceeding with his mission, because it will be sinful if executed, so also in our daily interaction, there are actions that are born out of innocent intent, but the result will be sinful, and that is why the Spirit of God is there to guide us, (Philippians 3:15  Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.) Let us therefore be wise to listen and obey when God's speaks.

In verse 2, 11, 12  we saw Abraham the Father of Faith, came to a situation that terrified him, and an attempt, he made to save his life almost cost him losing his wife, and that could have even cost him losing the promise of God, what we can learn from this is that whatsoever situation we find ourself, let The truth come out a sincere heart of Faith, and nothing shall be able to take away God's promises from us.

The question to ask is this, what if God did not retrain that King, the promise that was fulfilled in just the next chapter might never have come to pass, thank God for mercy, Sarah got Isaac at last, God is faithful. But we must beware not to allow our actions drive away God's blessing, see Abraham again was about to take a wrong step in retaining the bondwoman and her son, but thank God for a sensitive wife, God spoke to him confirming the words of Sarah.

Those object of sin refer to that bond woman, they must be cast out the moment we receive the promised salvation, those old friends, nude picture, erotic movies, alcohol jar, and other things or people who we commit sin with or use for sinful purpose, must be destroyed or sent away, as they will not share the kingdom life with you.

Challenge: Yes, you can be sincere but wrong, Let the Spirit lead you then you will be always right

Prayer: Order My Steps Oh Lord
