Topic: Divine Approval of God's Servants
Text : Acts 5, 6, 7, & 8
Key text: Acts 7:56 And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.
Discussion: in Acts 2:4 we read of how the Holy Spirit came on the Disciples, "And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance". This led to conversion of thousands, also in Acts 4:31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness, It was a time of Great REVIVAL.
But, in the midst of the great move of the Power of God, a Couple who will not discern the presence of God agreed together to deceive the servants of God, but God gave an approval of his servant, opening the eyes of Peter to see their deception, what a warning to scorners.
God further confirmed his servant, with Signs and wonders, so much that his shadow was healing the sick. (Acts 5:15-16 )
Again the Apostles were kept in prison, but God opened the prison doors for them.
Stephen also was filled with the Holy Ghost, and he preached a convincing message, his countenance was changed, as his face changed, as if he was an Angel, for him Jesus Christ stood in affirmation of his action.
Philip also went to Samaria, and Great Joy filled the city, He was directed by God to the eunuch, and was transported by the Spirit
God approves his servants even today, see what he promised: "And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Mark 16:17-18.
Are you filled with the Holy Ghost, but you seem powerless and weak, are you willing to run for God, but fainting, have you lost the Power, or doubting if the power is really there? These points will rescue the situation:
1) Examine yourself:
- If you are still in the Faith, or if sin has crept in, if sin has crept, Repent and return
- if you are already building the bridges you burnt, if there commitment you made some years back, you are now recounting, you need to go back to them and break them down afresh, yields your all to God, he will not share the throne of your heart with anything.
2) Build or Rebuild the altar for God:
Many miss it at this point, they have no altar for God, no Devotion to God, no sacrifice for God, but today build an altar for God, an altar of: Praise, Prayer, and reading of the word, remember the upper room, at Pentecost.
3) Present yourself a Living sacrifice, how? be committed to his course, be at his service, go tell sinners about his love, spend and be spent in Evangelism, remember ye are not your own, but you are bought with a price, therefore, glorify God in your mortal bodies.
Remember the promise is unto you, the promise of Power, Anointing, Fire, Revival, and this is the time to receive, open your mouth wide and I will fill it says the Lord.
Challenge: Till you have given all, you can't be approved of God.
Prayer: All to Jesus I surrender, Let the fire fall.
