Glorious Living Devotional : Jan 17

Topic: Prevailing in Prayer

Text: Genesis 31,32 &33

Key text: Genesis 32:28  And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed, he prevailed indeed for ...Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and kissed him... Rather than kill him.

Jacob here got a Change of name and a Change of destiny, because he knew that the only way to get himself out of the looming danger was to pray a prevailing prayer.

He made several plans in his craftiness but he knew the situation he was in was such That craft could not solve, he knew that the seed of discord he sowed several years back was about to be reaped, if nothing was done, for Esau was already coming with four hundred men, and that was a source of fear.

Then came the night that changed everything, he went before God with the mind, I will not let the Go unless you bless me. Yes he was blessed indeed.
Here are some precept from Jacob's prayer:

- It was a prayer to God
- it was a prayer of assurance that Good will do it
- It was a persistent prayer
- it is a prayer of sincerity
- He prayed without self pity.

Challenge: God still answers, sincere saintly prayer.

Prayer: Lord Bless me today.
