Glorious Living Devotional : Jan 18

Topic: Grievous consequences of a decision without God

Text: Genesis 34

Key text: Genesis 34:27  The sons of Jacob came upon the slain, and spoiled the city, because they had defiled their sister.

Discussion: Dinah the daughter of Leah, left the home with a view to seeing the daughters of the land: an idle roaming, a lazy walk around, no wonder Shechem saw her and defiled her. This later led to the destruction of the city by Simeon and Levi.

On several occasions great havoc are a consequence of small mistake that are unguided, by the spirit of God, look at the decision of Lot to pitch his tent by Sodom, he Lost everything. The decision of Barnabas to go with Mark at the expense of his Divinely assigned companion, made him Lost in the mission field.

When we look into our lives, we may discover several small decisions without God, that has brought us short of God's plan and purpose, this is because Satan is often hiding behind our mistakes to prevent God's purpose for our lives, and this calls for extra carefulness in making decision, always PUT GOD FIRST in your decisions.

The Goodnews for you this morning is that those mistake that have affected your life can be corrected in the covenant of Christ, just pray with Faith and he will make all things new.

Challenge: Is God the center of your decisions?

Prayer: Lord, forgive the decisions I took without you, help me to be sensitive when your Spirit speaks to me.
