Glorious Living Devotional : February 6

Topic: Principles for all-round success

Text: Exodus 17, 18 & 19

Key Text: Exodus 17:10  So Joshua did as Moses had said to him, and fought with Amalek: and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill.

Discussion: Israel were on the journey out of Egypt, but then came the need for water, God supplied, Amalek came  to fight them they got the victory, God came and had fellowship with them, all this were testimonies of God's goodness,

These testimonies were not just a product of luck there were some underlining Principles, let's consider them:

-Call on the Lord:( Exodus 17:4 ) Moses was not like the multitude, he knew how to go to God, he went to God and God gave answer, the next time you need anything learn to ask from God.

Unity, Obedience and diligence: ( Exodus 17:10 ) Joshua was Obedient and diligent, he fought amalek, and
Aaron and Hur, united with Moses to raise his hands and Great was their Victory. When we unite great Victory follows.

Division of labor: (Exodus 18)
Moses was diligent, but he would have worn out quickly, but for the advice of his Father in law, diligence is good but division of labour makes the work easier.

Purging for progress: (Exodus 19) Progress is impeded by heavy weight, s also, sin is an emotional and spiritual weight,  if we must go far we must drop sin far behind,

Challenge: the way to the top will not allow the weight of Sin, laziness, and discord, get rid of them and call on God, Great will be your testimony.

Prayer: Set my feet on the path of Success

Glorious Living Devotional : Feb 5: Hold your Peace

Topic: Hold your Peace

Text: Exodus 14,15 &16

Key text: Exodus 14:14  The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.

Discussion: We live in a world where trouble and struggles are the order of the day, fears abound in the heart of man and people are thirsty for peace everywhere, several fear grups the heart of men, even the fear of the unknown, unfortunately fear has never made us better, rather what we fear are made to manifest because we fear them.

One primary cause of our fear is because we do not fear the Lord, when we lack the absolute Faith in the unchanging God, shortly after the song of victory by Israel, they began to murmur, for lack of water, they had forgotten that he who made the sea to be parted, could bring honey out of the rock. As Christians, it is important to note that fear, is an imagination, we are not to be controlled by fear, but Faith, see the things which be not as though they were, see God in every situation, Moses knew this secret, and when Israel was complaining he simply went to God.

Build your Faith with this ingredients:

-The Word of God and His promise
-The testimonies of past victories
-The knowledge of God's ability.
-The songs of Faith
-The profession of conviction
-Seek first the kingdom of God
-The simple Obedience of Faith.

As you build your Faith, it becomes easy to hold your peace in the turmoil of the world and as you hold your peace the Lord will fight for you.

Challenge: Ephesians 5:19  Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

Prayer: I receive the gift of Faith to believe God for all things

Glorious Living Devotional : February 1

Topic: Saved to Save

Text: Exodus 1, 2 & 3

Key text: Exodus 3:10  Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt.

Discussion: Several years after The death of Joseph, there rose a Pharaoh that knew not Joseph, nor  the exploit which he has done in Egypt in saving her from famine. This created fear of Israel in the new Pharaoh, he therefore made several decree, against Israel, we see that fear makes a man to imagine wrongly. Never allow fear in your life lest you ignorantly fight God.

The midwives in Egypt had a different fear, the fear of God, and this made God to deal well with the Midwives, because they spared the the Israelites' sons, a lesson, Blessing comes by the fear of God, the fear of the Lord is to keep his commandments.

Seeing the Midwives did not follow his instruction, he ordered the killing of every male child born by Casting them into the river.

In the midst of this, Moses was Born, he was hid for three months, but could not be hid any further, he was laid by the Riverside, what a great faith that worked out his salvation from the deadly decree of Pharaoh, this made made way for him in the Palace of Egypt. "Every Decree will work out My promotion"

Having been saved from the destruction of Pharaoh, God appeared to him with a new commission, Exodus 3:10  Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt.

What lesson? You are saved from sin, yes, but you were saved to go and let others know of this salvation Plan, in Matthew 10:16 Jesus said "Behold, I send you forth" also he said in Matthew 28:20  "Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you"

There are things God has taught you, that you have read from his word, that his Spirit has laid in your heart, don't just keep them to yourself, You are saved to save, Let your Light shine to others that they may see the way of Salvation through Jesus Christ.

Challenge: Are you saved? Help someone too, let them know Jesus the Savior.

Prayer: Make me a soul winner

Our inexcusable mandate to go forward and Preach

Discussion: in our last discussion, we discussed about how we are saved to save, and how God called Moses to go and deliver Israel out of bondage, today we are continuing to see Moses' action after that Divine revelation, today we want to see Our inexcusable mandate to go forward and Preach.

Moses after receiving the mandate to go and deliver Israel, he was reluctant and started to give excuse, these same excuses are common to believers today and this has made many to neglect the great commission mandate given in Mark 16:15 and Matthew 28:19,20.

What are the excuses?
-They will not believe me
(Exodus 4:1-9 )
  Solution:
1. Exodus 4:2 What is in your Hand? A Bible, it contains the testimonies for their salvation
2. Exodus 4:6,7 Lay your hands on the sick among them, and they shall Recover
3. Exodus 4:9  show them Jesus the Living water by the way you live, by preaching constantly to them, out of you shall flow the river of Living water to them and this will cause a change in them the Blood will cleanse their iniquity, and they will be amazed

-I am not eloquent (Exodus 4:10-12)
  Solution:
1. Exodus 4:11 Who made the dumb? Can he not make thee speak? Ask of me and I will do it, what us your limitation, pray to God and the limitation will be taken away but while it us still there go.
2. Exodus 4:12  Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say.

-Who will go with me? Exodus 4:13
Solution
1 there is a Brother in the church, a saved Brother at your work.. That can go with you.
2 God will Go with you.

What has been your excuse in the past, come to Jesus and explain to him, he will not excuse you or have you excused, but he will make a way for you.

Challenge: You have no excuse for ignoring sinners, when you can preach to them

Prayer: Lord take away my Limitation.
