Genesis
37:13-15-17 and a certain man found him, and, behold, he was wandering in the
field: and the man asked him, saying, What seekest thou?
Jeremiah
45:5 And seekest thou great things for thyself? Seek them not:
Matthew
6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these
things shall be added unto you.
Isaiah
34:16 Seek ye out of the book of the LORD, and read: no one of these shall
fail, none shall want her mate: for my mouth it hath commanded, and his spirit
it hath gathered them.
Isaiah
55:6 Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:
Zephaniah
2:3 Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his
judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the
day of the LORD'S anger.
Luke
12:31 But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be
added unto you.
John
1:38 Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and saith unto them, What seek
ye? They said unto him, Rabbi, (which is to say, being interpreted, Master,)
where dwellest thou?
The story of Joseph in the introducing passage, present the
case of many, they are wandering in the world, and they are yet to discover
their purpose, they are yet to discover the need to open up to the source of
solution.
Many are rushing for the treasure and the pleasure that this
world flash at the undecided once, and as a way to get the golden mirage, they
make it a do or die affair, they try every possible way to lay hold on the gold
the mirage present to them: they do not mind to involve in falsehood,
embezzlement, rituals, killings and so on, all in the name of riches and power.
Many in the course of seeking these things have sacrificed their children, body
part, and done many other grievous things, yet when they get the taste of what
they want they get frustrated by the sleepless night, the loss of peace and
many other losses, afflictions and pains.
Many have been living these miserable life and do not know
the way out, yet they keep wandering, many have been terrified by the devils
and demon that if they dare to leave their demonic or satanic way they will
loose all they have, and even their life and this have made many to remain
their oppression, and misery. Many peoples’ heart are failing them, because,
every day the devil mocks them and takes advantage of them.
Are you in the same shoes with the people afore mentioned, are you
still wandering, is the gold you are chasing still hanging as a mirage, or
these question(where will I end up in eternity, where will I get peace,
healing, long life, power, riches, deliverance from oppression, freedom from bondage?)
put a puzzle to you? What God is saying to you is; And seekest thou great
things for thyself? Seek them not… But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and
his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. (Jer 45:5, Mt
6:33)
1)SEEKING THE WRONG WAY: What the heathen seek
2)SEEKING
THE RIGHT WAY: What you ought to seek
3)SEEKING AND RECEIVING: What you seek
1)SEEKING THE WRONG WAY: What the heathen seek
Therefore
do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What
shall we wear?'For after all these
things the Gentiles seek… Matt 6:31-32 NKJV
And do not seek what you should
eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind.30 For all these things the nations of the
world seek after… Luke 12:29-30 NKJV
.
The Heathen are those portrayed
in the verses above as gentiles, and the nation of the world, they are the
unsaved and sinners, and Jesus is trying to draw a distinction between those
people and those whose aim is contrary, the aim of the people of the world is
the things of this world, butthe aim of
the elected, the saved, the disciples is on the things that are above that is
why
Col 3:2 has this to say:
If
ye then be raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ
sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on
things on the earth.KJV
The character of the world is to seek after
the fame, money, power of this world and they are always striving to get everything
they can from this world, because they have no hope just as EPH 2:12 puts it
that they are … having no hope, and without God in the world: but Christ made
his disciples to come to the knowledge that they must not be carried away by
what the heathen seek, rather they should keep their focus on the promised
eternal bliss and the home where its street are gold, and this is by extension
coming to us that we should not for the sake of the things of this world
forsake the things of eternal value, which will count beyond the this world.
The scripture warns in Matthew
6: 19 and 20 Lay not up for
yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where
thieves break through and steal:
Mt 6:20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in
heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not
break through nor steal:(KJV)
this is telling us that the things of this world if any man wants to seek
safter them they will shift his focus away from the heavenly goal, and that is
why Jesus revealed what we ought to seek and that we will consider in the next
point
2)SEEKING
THE RIGHT WAY: What you ought to seek
Zephaniah 2:3 Seek ye the LORD,
all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness,
seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD'S anger
Luke 12:31 But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things
shall be added unto you.
Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his
righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Many
today, have turn this scriptural verse around they now are seeking first the
things of this world, which Jesus said are addition unto us, they no longer put
first that which Christ wants us to put first and for this reason, they find it
difficult to get what they seek, in this passage the Jesus tells us to seek
first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, this is because in the kingdom
of God there is blessings unlimited that is why Paul in philipians 4:19 saysBut my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory
by Christ Jesus, and to be able to seek first the kingdom of God,
righteousness is the key you need to access the riches of the blessing of God,
but how can you have righteousness if you are yet to know the source of
righteousness, Jesus Christ is the source of Righteousness, that is why you
must seek the lord now!Isaiah 55:6 saysSeek ye the LORD while he may
be found, call ye upon him while he is near: For … behold, now is the accepted
time; behold, now is the day of salvation. 2Corinthians 6:2 you need to seek Jesus by repentance from your sin and
turning to the lord. John 1:38 Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and
saith unto them, what seek ye? They said unto him, Rabbi …
Some
people ask contrary to the will of God, this also is not supposed to be we
should have the attitude like of Christ, in the garden of Gethsemane…prayed, saying, O my Father,
if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but
as thou wilt.(Matthew 26:39) also verse 42
says…if this cup may not pass away from me,
except I drink it, thy will be done.
John 1:38 Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and saith unto
them, what seek ye? They said unto him, Rabbi … Who do you too seek after, Is
it JESUS or mammon (money), what seekest thou, is it the kingdom of God or the
kingship of this earth, is it the righteousness of God or your own right? James
4:3 says:Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it
upon your lusts you
can make a change and begin to receive if you will begin to seek the will of
God let us see how we can receive what we seek in the next point
3)SEEKING AND RECEIVING: What you seek
James 4:3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may
consume it upon your lusts
John 14:13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the
Father may be glorified in the Son.
Matthew 18:19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as
touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father
which is in heaven. Matthew 21:21 Jesus answered and said
unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not
only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this
mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. John 15:7 If ye abide in me, and my
words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
Mt 7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it
shall be opened unto you: Lu 11:9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it
shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto
you.
The Bible is replete
with promises of answers to prayer, and assurance that God will grant to you
that which you request, and that that which you seek, but why is it that all
this promises are not coming true, let us consider a few of them.
Whatever ye ask in my name believe ye shall have them. Ye
receive not…. Amiss
Many today do not have what they want because of the
following reasons
-Faithlessness; lack
of faith hinders many people from receiving what they ask, Jesus said to his
disciples when they could not heal the lunatic son in Matthew17:17 that it was
as a result of their faithlessness. Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless
and perverse generation, Matthew17:17
-Sin; many people
are strangers to God, they have been dip in sin and when they pray there prayer
Is an abomination in the ears of Jesus
-Asking amiss;
some people do not receive because they ask amiss, they ask to fufil the lost
of the flesh and also they don’t seek first the kingdom of God
-They are not ready
to obey; many are not ready to fufil the condition, all they want is
blessing, but this cannot be, because they know that obedience brings the
blessing [Naman was told to bath 7 times, he wasn’t made whole until he obeyed
-Satanic Manipulation;
the devil knows you are asking for something that will depopulate his kingdom
and so he will try to hinder you from having, but by the time you get to finish
reading and you pray the devil will not be able to resist your prayer anymore
-Not the appointed
time; there Is an appointed time for what you are asking for, if it is
prolonged it is only because it is not time.
Having known the causes of hindrances to finding what you want,
let us see the way out.
vCOME TO
JESUS;come unto me all ye that
labour and heavy laden and I will give you rest; Jesus is the number one
solution, are you a sinner, or a backslider, you have to come to Jesus , come
out of your sin and say; ……. Jesus I
come; how to come;
a.Accept
your sinful state
b.Accept
Jesus shed his blood for you
c.Accept
Jesus can save you
d.Accept
Jesus died for you
e.Confess
your sins
f.Tell him you are sorry for your sinfulness
g.Ask
him to forgive your sin and write your name in the book of life
PRAY THIS PRAYER
Lord Jesus I thank you for your
love for me by dying for me on the cross where your blood was shed to take away
my sin. Thank you for your promise that whosoever come unto you, you shall in
no wise cast away, Lord I come as a sinner unto you, please forgive me my sin
and write my name in the book of life, thank you for saving me, give me the
grace to live for you all the days of my life, in Jesus name I have
prayed..[amen]
With this prayer, you are done, you have come to Jesus.
vAsk in faith;whatever ye ask, believe and ye shall have them, faith is the substance
of things hoped for….faith is believing you have what you are asking
vAsk in accordance to Gods will; as we have
studied, we need to put God first in whatever we ask, we should consider what
we are asking for, is it according to the will of God?, will it promote Gods
kingdom?, how will we use it? If it is Gods will believe you will receive
vContinue to ask; ask until your joy is full,
jesus wants us to continue to ask, he wants us to ask till our joy is full, so
continue to ask even when there seems to be no answer, still keep on asking it
may be for an appointed time
vCancel all satanic manipulation; Daniel prayed
and God answered but the prince of Persia withstood him and prevented his
prayer,so in prayer you must pray
against every satanic manipulation that may be trying to hinder your prayer.
Now, before you is a opened a blank check fill in your
request but remember seek ye first the kingdom of God, are sick? Remember it is
Gods will for you to be in health, are you afflicted? Oppressed? Gods purpose
is your deliverance, what seekest thou, ask in prayer now and the answer will
come. Lay your hands where you have the problem, if you have the problem in
your stomach, hand, head or wherever, lay your hands on it as you pray this
prayer;lord, thank you for your word,
the word you spoke and by which the earth was made, thank you because your word
is the same, lord I pray, every source of this problem, let them dry up in
Jesus name. Check up by faith, your miracle is there.
The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace. (Ex 14:14)
My presence shall go with you, and I will give you rest. (Ex 33:14)
But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement
of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed. ( Is 53:5 )
Grace be to you and peace from God the Father. and from our Lord Jesus Christ. ( Gal 1:3 )
And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds
through Christ Jesus. ( Phil 4:7 )
Ask and it shall be given you; seek and you shall find; knock and it
shall be opened to you. (Matthew 7:7)
And all things, whatsoever you shall ask in prayer, believing, you shall
receive. (Matthew 21:22 )
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that gives to all men
liberally and reproves not; and it shall be given him. ( James 1:5 )
This is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything
according to His will, He hears us: and if we know that He hears us,
whatsoever we ask, we know, that we have the petitions that we desired
of Him. ( 1 John 5:14,15 )
But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory
by Christ Jesus. ( Philippians 4:19 )
